Garnet & Black Dragon

Sculpture of a black and red dragon, standing on a treasure pile of gold coins and gems.

I used to make polymer clay dragons in high school, and Mom always thought it was funny to ask “oh what are you baking?” So I could give a totally normal answer like “dragon teeth.”

For her birthday this year I took another stab at a clay dragon. I really like how it turned out!

Mom really likes sparkle and shine, so I went pretty heavy using mica powder and assorted glass stones for the treasure pile. The coins are a clay cane I just kind of eyeballed a design for, and I like how they look all piled up.

One detail Mom really liked was “look at the teeth!”

Which is great, because those were a pain but I really wanted it to have a big sharp toothy grin so it was worth it, heh!
